Homeostasis And Organization Of Body Fluid Compartments
introduction
This is the first unit of the human physiology course. human physiology tells us how human body works and how it maintains homeostasis. our body is made up of many organ such as the heart, lungs, kidney, liver, stomach brain etc. these organ work together as a system to maintain the body's homeostasis we will start understanding the physiology of human body by first studying the body system and the organization of the body fluid compartment.
In the unit you will study about the basis of human physiology ,body system ,organization levels of the human body ,types of body fluids, homeostasis and homeostatic control system, and their roles in the body system.
Top 5 Expected learning outcomes.....
After studying this unit ,you should be able to...
Define human physiology;
Describes body system;
Explain the organization levels;
Elucidate body fluids and their types ;and
Describe homeostasis and its homeostatic control system;
Basis Of Human Physiology
The word physiology (physio = nature";-logy="study") means the study of the nature of living organism in simple words physiology is the study of the function of living organism as a whole or its constituent parts and thus deals with the physical and chemical process. it is more concerned with the basic activities such as reproduction ,digestion ,metabolism movement ,blood circulation ,excretion and contraction as they are carried out within cells ,tissue ,organ and organ system of the body.
The french physician jeans Francois Fernel was the first person who coined the term "physiology "to describe the spinal canal. Human physiology deals with the study of the body 's function. The scope of physiology is wider when it deals with human beings the study of function and mechanism of life processes of the human body is called human physiology. it explains how each part of the body function independently and together as a whole system the efficient working of body and different organs system need of balancing of physiological variables within the body. this balanced state of the body is called homeostasis and is regarded as the basis of the human physiology. you will learn about homeostasis in section. jeans Francois Fernel (1497-1558)
