These play an important role in the body mostly acting as co-enzymes and participating in a variety of metabolic reactions. Role of vitamin A in vision is well known. Most B vitamins are involved in energy and protein metabolism, and nerve function. Vitamins A and D have a role to play in gene expression, health and maintenance of bones and immune responses. Vitamins K and C are also associated with bone health. Vitamins K, B6, B12 and folate are involved in formation of blood cells or blood clotting factors. Carotenoids(precursor of vitamin A), Vitamins E and C protect the body from oxidative tress as they function as antioxidants.
